Bring your baked goods and your home brews for a winter social event!
You’ve been working in your garden all summer! Now’s the time to share the fruits of your labor! Bring picked goods, samples of homemade breads, soups, salsas, and more. Meet your neighbors and see what they’ve cultivated.
While bringing goods is encouraged, it is NOT required! Metropolitan has a great beer selection and welcomes outside non alcoholic beverages and food. Come enjoy the view and meet your neighbors.
This event is FREE of charge. (But please tip your bartenders) 😉
Avondale is full of raised beds, tomato cages, bee boxes, chicken coops, and native flower gardens. Our homes are filled with skilled makers and creative doers. This is your opportunity to meet the people behind the fences, check out the yards you’ve always admired, and pick the brains of neighbors.
Join the Avondale Gardening Alliance for the Avondale Gardening and Agricultural Fair.
A map of the event will be available at www.AvondaleGardeners.org, on the Avondale Gardening Alliance Facebook group, and in person at Dmen Tap, Belmont Feed & Seed, and Reed’s Local.
The day will end with a celebration at Metropolitan Brewing at 5PM where you can win prizes like a 7 foot tall ficus benjimina from Plant Shop Chicago, $75 in gift cards from Kuma’s Corner, or terrarium classes from Farmers Market Garden Center worth $90!
Great news! AGA is partnering with a local community garden space! That means we’ll need plenty of volunteers to spend time working in the garden!
Join AGA on Sunday, June 10th at 10AM for a few hours of getting dirty.
Parking is permit only on Drake and generally limited nearby.
Please bring gloves and shovels if you’ve got them. See you Sunday!
A boozy social event where neighbors can get together and talk shop as we near the last frost!
Bring your own beverages and/or snacks and roll your sleeves up to participate in a free workshop. Native wildflowers attract pollinators and beautify the landscape. Get your guerrilla gardening on and make some native wildflower seed bombs!
*Pollen is a private business and not child-proofed. We ask that you keep the young ones at home for this event.
This event is no-cost and all seed bomb supplies will be provided. If you have native wildflowers lying around, feel free to bring them and we can roll them in with the rest!
Avondale Gardening Alliance: Mobilizing neighbors to maximize the benefits of gardening and urban agriculture.
Join your neighbors for a garden-centric mixer at Metropolitan Brewing on March 4th! While we encourage you to bring some of your favorite seeds to swap, empty hands will be generously filled. Nobody walks out of an AGA seed swap empty handed!
This is a family friendly event and open to all.
Join your neighbors for an evening of socializing and learning. Chat about next year’s garden and learn what you can do this winter in order to be successful this spring.
Bring your ideas for 2018 workshops!
This event is family friendly and open to all skill levels!
“Anyone who thinks gardening begins in the spring and ends in the fall is missing the best part of the whole year; for gardening begins in January with the dream.” – Josephine Nuese
A show and share of infused liquors, hand-crafted bitters, and home-brewed beer! If you’ve been looking for an excuse to try making your own boozy creation – this is it! Bring your own booze and/or homemade baked goods and come meet the fellow plant lovers in the neighborhood.
This event is free of cost! We do ask that you bring something to share.
