Seed Catalog Extravaganza – January 27th, 3 PM, DMen Tap

Seed Catalogue Extravaganza!

Meet in the back room of DMen Tap at 3PM to pore over seed catalogs and plan out next year’s garden.

Discuss seeds and get feedback from neighbors about what’s worked or not worked in the past. This is a great opportunity for brand new gardeners to learn about the many varieties of plants available to our area!

DMen is kid friendly and has food and drinks available.

AGA Harvest Social – September 23rd – 3-6PM – Metropolitan Brewing

You’ve been working in your garden all summer! Now’s the time to share the fruits of your labor! Bring picked goods, samples of homemade breads, soups, salsas, and more. Meet your neighbors and see what they’ve cultivated.

While bringing goods is encouraged, it is NOT required! Metropolitan has a great beer selection and welcomes outside non alcoholic beverages and food. Come enjoy the view and meet your neighbors.

This event is FREE of charge. (But please tip your bartenders) 😉

Avondale Gardening and Agriculture Fair – August 19th – 12 – 5PM

Avondale is full of raised beds, tomato cages, bee boxes, chicken coops, and native flower gardens. Our homes are filled with skilled makers and creative doers. This is your opportunity to meet the people behind the fences, check out the yards you’ve always admired, and pick the brains of neighbors.

Join the Avondale Gardening Alliance for the Avondale Gardening and Agricultural Fair.

A map of the event will be available at, on the Avondale Gardening Alliance Facebook group, and in person at Dmen Tap, Belmont Feed & Seed, and Reed’s Local.

The day will end with a celebration at Metropolitan Brewing at 5PM where you can win prizes like a 7 foot tall ficus benjimina from Plant Shop Chicago, $75 in gift cards from Kuma’s Corner, or  terrarium classes from Farmers Market Garden Center worth $90!

BYOB Social & Seed Bomb Workshop – April 8th, 4-7PM, Pollen Floral Design

A boozy social event where neighbors can get together and talk shop as we near the last frost!

Bring your own beverages and/or snacks and roll your sleeves up to participate in a free workshop. Native wildflowers attract pollinators and beautify the landscape. Get your guerrilla gardening on and make some native wildflower seed bombs!

*Pollen is a private business and not child-proofed. We ask that you keep the young ones at home for this event.

This event is no-cost and all seed bomb supplies will be provided. If you have native wildflowers lying around, feel free to bring them and we can roll them in with the rest!
